ACHR offers a wide range of services to adults. Most of the services listed below are available in Lee and Russell Counties and most have income guidelines.
Services include training on the job and professional development planning that can help participants become ready for a career in child care and related areas.
Child and Adult Care Food Program
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) helps about 40 home child care providers offer nutritious meals and snacks for the nearly 400 children under their care in Lee, Macon, Russell, and Bullock Counties. CACFP provides partial reimbursement of food expenses which helps providers offer quality services at reasonable rates.
Energy Assistance and Weatherization
These programs serve eligible residents in Lee County and include a wide range of services such as assistance in paying power bills, energy counseling and help with making homes more energy efficient.
The Head Start/Early Head Start staff provide several activities during the year specific to fathers.
Housing Counseling and Low Income Housing
ACHR is a HUD-Certified Housing Counseling Agency. Comprehensive housing counseling is provided to residents in Lee County. ACHR provides affordable housing complexes at four locations in Lee County and seven other counties.
The Alabama Coalition Against Hunger (ACAH) is a statewide ACHR affiliate that addresses issues related to hunger and malnutrition among those living with low incomes. Community gardening is ACAH’s specialty.
Provides free nutrition and exercise counselling to ACHR parents and families.
